DEERWOOD'S CHILDREN'S THERAPY PROGRAM AREA

Deerwood's Children's Therapy Program provides a variety of services for children and their families including, but not limited to:

  • Mental/Behavioral Health Assessment and Treatment of problems and needs associated with acute stress, adjustment, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, attachment, autism, chronic illness and disability, conduct, depression, failure to achieve developmental milestones, gender-identity, gifted and talented abilities, impulse control, learning and achievement, loss and bereavement, maladaptive or nervous habits, oppositional defiance, post-traumatic stress, peer and sibling relationships, self-esteem, separation difficulties, selective mutism, etc.
  • Social Skills Development and Leadership Training
  • Therapeutic tutoring
  • Enrichment activities 

Program space allows for parents, children, grandparents and extended family groups to meet together for mediation, for supervised visitation, and other purposes. A variety of therapeutic modalities are used including: play therapy, pediatric CBT, parent-child interactive training, applied behavior analysis, art therapy, music therapy, and intergenerational programming.

In-office services for children, youth and families are offered at the Allegheny/Westmoreland County office, and at a second office close to the Washington/Fayette County line. On-line services can be arranged for those who cannot travel to either office.
